Comodo Firewall Pro 3 power-up

Guess what? About a week ago, we did a short review on Comodo Firewall Pro version 2.4. This week, we bring you yet another short review on its version 3.0.15.277 which was released on January 11, 2008. We gotta say that it really does looks impressive but how well does it perform to our expectations.

On the side note, however they are still actively promoting version 2.4 due to a bigger download button which might sway visitors from clicking on the tiny “Click here for download” for its v3.0. Tricky huh. See over here. Okay, it is time for our review, read on!

A university course from F-Secure

It seems that early this month, F-Secure started a course on Malware Analysis and Anti-virus Technology at the Helsinki University of Technology and all 40 places have been taken up. The course focuses on understanding how a malware operates and how an anti-virus engine is build.

You can get the lecture slides at the course website but you have to follow up each week as the slides will only be release when class is about to start. If you’re really interested in fighting malware, get a book by Peter Szor titled “The Art of Computer Virus Research and Defence” as recommended by F-Secure for this course. The book cost $54.99 at Amazon.com.

Clannad virus creator arrested

Masato Nakatsuji, 24 created a virus based on the Japanese tv anime “Clannad” and released it on the P2P network threatening to kill P2P sharers. He was arrested not because he wrote the virus but because of copyright infringement. It is said that two other middle-aged man also help in the released on the Clannad virus.

SC Awards 08 US Finalist

SC Awards 08 US honoured

For those who are wondering what is SC Awards all about, it is a prestigious award to recognize the best product and services in the IT security industry. For this year, the finalist for US based companies have been announced.

The previous year winner of the “Best Anti-malware solution” category was won by Webroot Software with its anti-spyware product “Spy Sweeper Enterprise 3.0″. They are again in the finalist alongside with other very famous security vendors.
