AVG TechnologiesAVG Technologies formerly Grisoft has just released their latest AVG Anti-virus 8.0 and AVG Internet Security 8.0. AVG 8.0 comes with new enhanced features to protect computers from the recent trend of web-based malware attack executed by cyber criminals. In this new version 8.0, AVG integrated LinkScanner, a real-time safe searching and surfing technologies obtained from the acquisition of Exploit Prevention Labs.

Virus Heat penetrated 28 out of 32 anti-virus

Virus Heat a rogue anti-spyware

Virus Heat is a rogue anti-spyware that misleads users into buying their fake anti-spyware program.

It has been a couple of weeks since the Virus Heat 3.9 hype around the internet. So, I downloaded the Virus Heat installer (vrh_setup.exe) off their official website and uploaded it to VirusTotal.com yesterday. The result? - only 4/32 anti-virus detected Virus Heat.

But the question here is how come there are only a handful of anti-virus vendors that flag Virus Heat as a rogue anti-spyware when they have even blogged about it?

Don’t click on Cleanator ad

The Register reported that several legitimate websites are serving malicious banner advertisement of Cleanator. Cleanator is a rogue spyware posing as as a tool to clean temporary files. Websites that were spot to have this banner are ITV, Radio Times, MSN UK, and UK Press Gazzette.

Habbo Trojan Keylogger

Websense(R) Security Labs(TM) reported on their security blog about a trojan keylogger that is specifically aim at Habbo users. The infected file name ProRig.V9.exe disguised as a Habbo developer tool. Those who downloaded this tool can expect spywares crawling on their desktop if there is no proper virus protection. Up till now, the tool is still available for download on Habbo-soft.com. Below is the result from F-Secure Anti-virus which detected ProRig.V9.exe as Trojan-Spy.Win32.SCKeyLog.ap:
