A few days ago, I hopped on the crazed of becoming a Stumbler even though I had that plugin installed to my Firefox browser months back. Initially I was rather blur of its usage until lately only that I found out of the Stumble! button. From that moment I’ve been stumbling during my free time. But only to find out that I stumbleupon a virus during one of my stumble session!
Upon loading soccercommercials[dot]com, my installed F-Secure 2008 anti-virus alerted me of a Trojan-Downloader.HTML.Agent.ij and have blocked access to the website. However this event is not going to stop me from Stumbling in the future because I know I’m well protected. Is your anti-virus program this good?

So for the millions of StumbleUpon users, beware the next time you press on the Stumble! button. Get better protection. Read our post on Top-notch anti-virus of 2007. On the side note, if you are a Stumbler, add me as your friend. I’m propop.
Nevertheless, drop me a message(info@drsafemode.com) if you have stumbled on an infected website. I’ll be glad to report on your story.

I stumbled upon a virus… my anti virus software did not stop it. It was masquerading as some sort of a windows xp virus licence agreement update (alarm bells) to which i did not click install/i agree… i then noticed it had changed my background to an error message … suspicions confirmed. I have no idea what would have happened if we had clicked install as the virus seems to work well enough without that level of input from me. It restarts the computer every time you start up and seems to have erased all the system restore points (probably among other things) … it is currently in safe mode running a virus scan with no joy yet… (other computer obviously)
Same exact thing that happened to B Cook happened to me. It has blocked symantec.com, lavasoft.com, mcafee.com as well as definitional updates for my antivirus software. All my google searches return links that redirect me to cheap advertisements. i’ve uninstalled my stumbleupon toolbar and am never using that piece of shit again. I feel helpless as far as this virus goes, though.
I stumbled upon a virus recently after long-term use of stumbleupon this is the first for me. Spybot popped up a bunch of registry changes, I closed my browser and denied the changes and I think prevented the full attack from occuring but still ended up with Trojan.vundo (according to Malware Remover) and Virtumonde.prx and Windows Firewall Hack according to Spybot every time I reboot my system. Also it hacked Symantec Antivirus LiveUpdate. I ended up having to do a fresh install because I need my system for working, and after two days of dealing with it, I figured reinstalling everything would be quicker. As much as I like and even somewhat depend on StumbleUpon I haven’t installed it yet and probably wont install it again.
I’ve been stumbling since near the beginning. In the beginning, I really didn’t stumble on viruses. Then it got big. Then it got bought. Now I get repeat pages and a few Trojans and such. Thankfully, my anti-virus IS as good as yours and does catch them before they get to do anything. I stumble on windows and linux and have yet to stumble on a virus that would even function on linux. I know it will happen sooner or later, so I have a good but free antivirus there too
I have “stumbled over 300,000 sites with no problem! A well set up firefox and there is no problems.
i’m with b cook and adam. exact same thing here. it sucks because i adore stumbleupon but i can live without it. i’m not chancing more viruses.
I have desired to write something similar to this on my webpage which has given me an idea. Cheers.
Using Stumble since before it was famous and just last week got a crippling virus on my work PC (Yeah I know shouldn’t have it on my work PC) Anyway I couldn’t believe it!! And now I wont trust stumble anymore!!
Been stumbling for a few years, have found a few… I am my own anti virus
Clean system since purchase.
My neighbor and I have been just debating this particular topic, he’s often seeking to show me incorrect. Your view on that is nice and exactly how I really feel. I just now mailed him this site to point out him your personal view. After trying over your web site I book marked and might be coming back to learn your new posts!
#trans I will definitely recommend this to my friends
