
The latest Firefox 2.0.0.14 internet browser is now available through update and on their official download section. This time it fixes only one security concern which is the MFSA 2008-20 - Crash in Javascript garbage collector (rated Critical). Mozilla believes that this particular crash might not be exploitable but since this type of crash have known to be exploitable in the past they decided to post it as a security issue. However Firefox 2.0.0.14 was mainly released to fix the stability issue.

Damballa Inc. an internet security company based in Georgia - specialized in BotArmies recently discovered a worldwide mega infection of botnets and had given it a name “Kraken“. Botnets are large networks of computers being command and controlled like a zombie. The name was probably derived from which Kraken(a legendary sea monster) is seen infecting more than 400,000 computers more than the current Storm Worm of 200,000 computers.

April 8, 2008: Adobe posted a critical update - Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 to address a critical vulnerability in its existing Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 and below which allows an attacker to take control of the affected system. Adobe posted this announcement at their security bulletin under vulnerability identifier APSB08-11. All users are suggested to perform an update a.s.a.p by downloading the latest version 9.0.124.0.

Microsoft has issued an advanced notification for 5 critical updates and 3 important updates which will be available on April 8, 2008. Affected software are Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet Explorer. The updates fixes several security issues - remote code execution, spoofing, and elevation of privilege.
