It wasn’t such a big issue last December but Downadup has taken over about 1.9 million unpatch Windows-based computers to date as reported on F-Secure Blog. Downadup or some vendors might call it Conficker or Kido exploits the PC through the MS08-067 vulnerability.
As we write, the number of infected PCs is increasing drastically because of Downadup’s capability in brute-forcing into large corporate networks. After gaining access to a PC, it will further infect any USB disk device plugged in. F-Secure Corporation mentioned in its press release that Downadup cannot be easily removed because it has alter some Access Rights in the registry so that a user can’t remove or change them.
But fear not, in the event that your PC is infected with Downadup, download the Downadup Removal Tool by F-Secure.
