Is it time yet to backup your data? However so, some of you prefer to backup according to files belonging to work and those for entertainment, therefore the need of two hard disk. Why not go with bare hard drives, save on those expensive hard disk enclosures, and easily slot them into the Vantec NexStar Hard Drive Dock?
The Vantec NexStar Hard Drive Dock is lightweight(since it is made from plastic) costs around US$28. It is able to slot one SATA1/SATA2 hard disk at a time however there’s also a dual slot unit too by the same company. It uses USB 2.0 but a higher end unit comes also with eSATA connectivity. The pro here is that it is able to accept both the standard 2.5″ and 3.5″ sized hard drive.

Here’s a another photo (below) with the hard drive slotted into the NexStar Hard Disk Dock. Slotting the hard disk is very easy though you need to make sure it is slotted all the way in and you’re good to go. Then press the power button, the blue LED will lit up and it will blink if there’s any hard disk activity. If you have just bought a new hard disk then first you need to create a new partition using Windows Disk Management and next you need to format it (tutorial here). Ejecting the hard disk is also easy, there’s a small elevated button right beside the hard disk, press it after you have turn off the unit.
