How would you like an anti-virus software which is specially made for gamers? Bitdefender GameSafe was launched last month to specifically target the gaming community.
One of the very troublesome matter faced by gamers are pop-up appearing during a game causing a full-screen game window to minimize. Pop-ups ranging from virus update definitions, firewall permission/blocked alert and to virus found alerts frequently disturbs the gamer from enjoying the full quality of a game.
According to Bitdefender’s GameSafe press release “A system slow-down can have a life or death consequences in the virtual world. About a year ago, Sunbelt Software famous for their Counter-Spy product developed a totally new anti-virus engine from scratch - now they have released it under the name VIPRE for public beta. It all began when they realized that they needed an even powerful anti-malware technology. VIPRE is said to employ very powerful heuristic detection engine in addition to Sunbelt’s kernel-level active protection and FirstScan technology.

Symantec Corp recently announced the new Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for MAC users. This anti-virus solution is targeted at MAC users who are running the Boot Camp or Microsoft visualization software so that they can have Norton AntiVirus installed on both the MAC OS and the Windows OS. This comes at a price of $69.90 which includes the Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac and the Norton AntiVirus 2008 for Windows.
Early this month, Symantec Corp also announced the released for Norton 360 version 2.0 with newly added patent pending Browser Protection technology to protect users against drive-by-downloads. The Norton 360 is an all-in-one security solution which also includes anti-spyware, anti-phising, firewall, e-mail scanning and etc.
We had some time today to do a review on Haute Secure which is kinda still in its beta stages. But anyway, Haute Secure looks promising as the team is formed by security experts previously working at Microsoft and at the United States Department of Defence. Pretty cool huh?
Towards the end of 2007, we have seen many websites being compromised by malicious codes with either the intention to load a spyware or to commit a cyber crime. This type of attack pattern is given by the term “drive-by-downloads” in which a malware is automatically downloaded and executed without the knowledge of the user. Let’s see whether Haute Secure does work its charm.
