Avast! Anti-virus celebrates 50,000,000 user registrations

ALWIL SoftwareALWIL Software yesterday announced their 50,000,000th user registration for their multi-award winning Avast! Anti-virus. To celebrate this event, ALWIL Software is currently offering a 25% discount on all their product, this includes the Avast! 4 Anti-Virus Professional edition. This great offer will last till 31st March 2008.

Eduard Kucera, joint-founder and CEO of ALWIL Software said “We are not resting or complacent in our approach to malware protection - in the soon to be released version 4.8 of avast! Adobe Reader 8.1.2 update

As of Feb 7 2008, Adobe Reader 8.1.2 update has been released to address a remotely exploitable issue and providing support for Mac OS X Leopard. As reported by the SANS Internet Storm Center, there is an Adobe Reader exploit already in the wild. The malicious PDF file is serve to users by an infected internet banner on a website and that no current anti-virus is able to detect it. You can read the security bulletin on Adobe’s website although it does not provide in-depth information about the exploit. Download Adobe Reader 8.1.2 now!

Comodo Firewall Pro 3 power-up

Guess what? About a week ago, we did a short review on Comodo Firewall Pro version 2.4. This week, we bring you yet another short review on its version 3.0.15.277 which was released on January 11, 2008. We gotta say that it really does looks impressive but how well does it perform to our expectations.

On the side note, however they are still actively promoting version 2.4 due to a bigger download button which might sway visitors from clicking on the tiny “Click here for download” for its v3.0. Tricky huh. See over here. Okay, it is time for our review, read on!
