Firefox 3.0.1 New Updates

Firefox 3.01 New Update!

Firefox 3.0.1 is now available as an update and full version here. To get the update, just hover your mouse cursor on the Help menu of Firefox and click on “Check for Updates”. The list of issues fixed in Firefox 3.0.1 is available in the Release Notes section.

The Firefox updates includes 3 critical fixes to security issues namely:

  • Crash with malformed GIF file on Mac OS X
  • Command-line URLs launch multiple tabs when Firefox not running
  • Remote code execution by overflowing CSS reference counter

Windows XP SP3 on Windows Update

Windows XP SP3 released

We would like to announced that Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is now finally available on the Windows Update site and Microsoft Download Center site after a terrible recalled last month which contains a couple of bugs. However before you head over to Microsoft to get a copy of SP3, there’s a few things to note which were clearly notified in the SP3 Release Notes.

  • Uninstall Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 Beta
  • Microsoft Dynamic Retail Management System should not perform update until a hotfix is available
  • Uninstall KB 937468 concerning Remote Desktop Client 6.1
  • and a few more notifications..

Firefox 2.0.0.14 fixes javascript crash

Firefox 2.0.0.14 released

The latest Firefox 2.0.0.14 internet browser is now available through update and on their official download section. This time it fixes only one security concern which is the MFSA 2008-20 - Crash in Javascript garbage collector (rated Critical). Mozilla believes that this particular crash might not be exploitable but since this type of crash have known to be exploitable in the past they decided to post it as a security issue. However Firefox 2.0.0.14 was mainly released to fix the stability issue.

Critical exploit in Adobe Flash Player 9.0.115.0

Adobe Flash Player Critical Update

April 8, 2008: Adobe posted a critical update - Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 to address a critical vulnerability in its existing Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 and below which allows an attacker to take control of the affected system. Adobe posted this announcement at their security bulletin under vulnerability identifier APSB08-11. All users are suggested to perform an update a.s.a.p by downloading the latest version 9.0.124.0.
