Virus Heat a rogue anti-spyware

Virus Heat is a rogue anti-spyware that misleads users into buying their fake anti-spyware program.

It has been a couple of weeks since the Virus Heat 3.9 hype around the internet. So, I downloaded the Virus Heat installer (vrh_setup.exe) off their official website and uploaded it to VirusTotal.com yesterday. The result? - only 4/32 anti-virus detected Virus Heat.

But the question here is how come there are only a handful of anti-virus vendors that flag Virus Heat as a rogue anti-spyware when they have even blogged about it?

Here’s a quick way to scan with 32 anti-virus

VirusTotal, a very cool way to scan a file with 32 anti-virus engines. You can easily use this online service to scan your downloaded e-mail attachments, files send to you by friends on instant messengers and softwares downloaded from the internet. If you’re going to use this service quite often, why not download their desktop tool. A special menu will be added to the right-click “Send to” menu so that you can easily upload a file. Read on to find out the result of one of the file I had uploaded to VirusTotal.
